About We Rock the Spectrum in Moorabbin, VIC
We are two mothers of kids with special needs. Since our children’s diagnoses we have arrived at our ‘new normal’ and we have become passionate advocates for an authentically inclusive society. We want to make a difference in our community and provide a space that is easier to be in. We know firsthand how difficult an outing can be with our kids and the challenges that come with basic day-to-day functions. For this reason, we are binging We Rock the Spectrum to the Southern Metropolitan Region. We cannot wait to meet you all!
Rebecca is mum to two children. She is an avid educator and has been in secondary teaching for 18 years. Since her younger son’s diagnosis of Fragile X Syndrome in 2013, she is enthusiastic about supporting other members of her community who are parents to children with special needs – particularly those still navigating the early stages of a diagnosis.
Lisa is mum to three children and two step-children. She has been a nurse in a range of fields including Emergency for 20 years. Since her children’s diagnosis of ASD she has been a proactive member of the disability community and advocate for inclusion especially in the healthcare setting. She also has a particular interest in the need for more understanding regarding true inclusion in blended families.
